5 Reasons I Will Never Set Foot in Walmart Again

1. Kids.
Need I say more?

2. Budget.
The grocery app automatically keeps a running tally for me as I happily add toothpicks, blocks of cheese and copious amounts of ground beef to my basket. This makes it infinitely easier to remove things from my virtual cart, rather than trying to inconspicuously stuff shower loofah’s behind the strawberries. Also, I know you, who are reading this, cart cleanse too. We all do it. Although the real adept among us can dump 20 dollars worth of goods in the actual check-out line and never even get noticed.

3. Time.
This one has two fantastic advantages. First, grocery pickup helps me stay more organized. I must make my order at least a day in advance as my Walmart doesn’t have same-day orders yet. So, not only am I planning ahead, but I’m also realizing that sometimes I can go one day without milk (cause there is no way I’m going to the store just for milk.)

Secondly, it takes me ten minutes to drive to Walmart, five minutes at Walmart loading the car, and ten minutes to drive back home. That’s 30 minutes at most! We all know an average grocery trip requires your neighbor to check in on the house and feed the dog.

4. Variety.
I tend to get into a shopping rut. I go down the same aisles, in the same pattern, make the same impulse buys, and always end up with the exact same car load of groceries. Grocery shopping online is almost fun! I’m still shopping for my family’s sustenance,  but I’m also snuggled up in my hideous bathrobe on the couch, while Mike Honcho giggles at the show he’s watching. Such a lovely atmosphere makes me peruse a little more and make some different knee-jerk purchases. Did you know that they have these little beads you can put in your washing machine to make your clothes smell even better? Its true.

5. Buckles and Seat Belts.
Grocery pickup doesn’t require customers to even get out of their vehicles when picking up an order, but I know Paige (our favorite pick-up employee) looks forward to my witty banter, so I always get out of the car. The grand total of seat belt clicks that I am not doing for my own safety is three…well if we’re going to get real technical, there are five clicks seeing as the young one has three clicks for an outgoing excursion. No orchestrating kids in and out of the car, into the cart (add another buckle click), multiple changes of position while in the store (at least three more clicks) and back out to the car for more seat belt clicks.

The best thing? My kids love going to the store now. And so do I. Pure magic.
