What Does Your Painting Look Like?

“Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can.”

-Danny Kaye-

This is a solid statement. Not just because it invokes such a happy, encouraging feeling, but because the core message is powerful.

Do you have a painting nearby? (It doesn’t even have to be real, no judgement!) If you do, take a closer look. Really close. Get up in that painting’s face. Look at the individual little strokes of color, the layers that are used individually, then mashed, then faded into another color. Some of the colors are dark. Some are light. Some are bland. Some are rich. Some of those little brushed on colors you might hate. Others catch the light just right and you love them.

The reds, the greens, the blues, the browns, the blacks…

Step back.

Look at that beautiful painting that all those individual swishes of colors created.

It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out my point. Our lives are full of those same experiences that we noticed in the brush strokes. There are the experiences we wish we could just forget, the ones that we would love to relive, the bland experiences, the high-points, the low-points. These experiences are blending together into the beautiful and unique person you are and continue to become.

Welcome experiences. Welcome growth. Create that beautiful life canvas!

The week is yours…make it count!

I totally agree!! Just like the paint on our canvas of life. Throw it everywhere!

I really loved what you are saying here, actually, I read it a few times. What has come through for me here is accept and celebrate the whole, not just the parts, the parts are only beautiful when you look at the whole.

I love this post. It’s a great analogy for life! We can forget how precious time is in the hum drum of the day to day. I try to do the things I love every single day! Every moment is precious.

I love that you are so good at incorporating this principle into your life already!

Very inspiring! I often feel that my life is black and white (and so do all the painting in my house:)), but I’m still trying to add a bit of color here and there 😉

Love the concept that “your life is your message”. It made me wonder what my life painting would look like. I agree that we should throw as much paint on it as possible. Great post!

Thank you so much for reading. I’m glad you found it valuable. I often wonder what I am creating and always try to throw a little extra on each day 🙂
